What a beautiful day it was for a wedding and what a fantastic venue, Browsholme Hall in Clitheroe was the setting for the wedding of the new Mr and Mrs Bayley on May 25th.
I was honoured that after searching for their ideal wedding singer in Lancashire they picked me.
The wedding breakfast actually took place in the Tithe Barn and all I can say is that it is most definitely worth a visit, unique and a simply stunning Lancashire wedding venue.
I arrived early to get set up, I was booked to sing during the drinks reception and throughout the meal, as it turned out it was such a gorgeous day Rachel the bride asked if I wouldn’t mind singing outside. I was only too happy to oblige, nothing like doing a job that I love whilst soaking up the rays, what could be better.
Once it was time to be seated I gathered the wedding party together and ran them through the Grand Fun Entrance that we were about to do, all the guests stood at their tables in anticipation for was about to happen, with songs chosen by the bride and groom. The boys made their big entrance followed by the girls and last but certainly not least Rachel and Robert, the guests really got into the spirit of the moment and made it most certainly memorable.
Once seated it was time for the wedding breakfast to commence, I sang a few classic tunes here and there throughout the meal. A couple of memorable moments for me was getting the entire room joining in to Wonderwall and making a young man blush after he had asked me to sing Angels, little did he know he would be singing it with me!
Sweet Caroline was the song of choice to be dedicated to bridesmaid Caroline, and she really was a sweetheart, looking slightly embarrassed whilst I serenaded her at the bride’s special request, however she took it in her stride and really was a good sport.
I also managed to surprise the Mother of the Bride with a rendition of the old Sir Tom Jones classic “She’s a lady”; being a Mrs Jones herself and having a Welsh husband she loved the tune.
Just before the speeches there was one last dedication I took upon myself to do and that was to sing a song for the Mother of the Groom, she was a lovely lady and never for one minute expected a song dedicated to her. The whole room joined in and sang, it was one of those “you had to be there moments”.
Along came the speeches and they didn’t disappoint, with Steven, Robert, Paul and Andrew doing a fantastic job. Emotion, humour and a sense of love in the air created a perfect atmosphere to a perfect afternoon.
Just one special request left to do was sing Delilah directly after the speeches for Father of the Bride Steven, and of course I got him to help me out!
I have to say I loved being a part of this wedding, from the weather to the venue, from the guests to Rachel and Robert themselves, fantastic from start to finish. I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to you both for allowing me to be a part of your special day as your wedding singer.
