Well what can I say about the wedding of Mr & Mrs Howard than “What an AMAZING night!”. When I met up with Paul & Helena a few weeks ago to talk about what kind of atmosphere they wanted me to help them create for their evening reception they informed me about their crazy family & friends; I found out exactly who I would be able to interact with and the particular songs the bride & groom wanted me to perform during the night to bring back memories from the path that had led them to this point of celebrating their relationship. So Saturday arrived and as I approached the Grand Browsholme Hall in Clitheroe I couldn’t wait to get the celebrations under way. Paul & Helena had chosen to have their wedding in Tithe Barn within the grounds of the hall and what a beautiful setting, a great venue for this Wedding Singer in Lancashire to perform at.
I greeted the new Mr & Mrs Howard, they had enjoyed a great day so far and now were just as excited as me to get their Evening Reception under way. I also bumped into my friend Stuart from Stuart Ainslie Photography who was on hand to take some great photographs.
I find that guests normally need a little bit of encouragement to get on the dance floor – by 5 or 6 songs in they start to find the courage to get their dancing shoes on……well not this lot!! From the very first note of the very first song I played 2 happy guests rushed straight over eager to bounce their way through the night, and by the chorus they had been joined by at least 20 others. Helena and her bridesmaids weren’t far behind, and I can assure you that’s the way the dance floor stayed for the entire night – full and bouncing until the very last note of the very last song, with people chanting for more! (I would have loved to have obliged however I have to follow the venue’s rules.) I think I put a smile on Helena’s mum’s face, she was a great dancer and twirled me around the dance floor while I belted out a bit of Tom Jones just for her. It was quite amusing to see how Helena and Paul’s tastes differed with regards to their music choices during the night, Helena loved me singing rock songs whilst Paul went mad for the cheese – both styles complimented each other though just like the happy couple. Their first dance was Mumford & Sons – I Will Wait, and the bride & groom surrounded by their loving friends and family sang along to every word. It was great to be able to do a reprieve at the end of the evening within the finale to get even more of the guests involved. I love being a wedding singer and being able to perform at weddings like this makes my night, I thank Paul & Helena for letting me be part of their special day, and to all their guests for being so barmy! Good luck for the future you two.
