When planning our May wedding at St Helen’s in Waddington and Browsholme Hall in Clitheroe, I had set aside some money to provide the wow factor – and for me, this was fireworks. I’ve always loved fireworks, and have fond memories of the spectacular fireworks displays Sheffield City Council uses to put on when I was at Uni (After Dark). After scouring high and low for a suitable fireworks display, I was excited we could treat our guests to a special extra. But it wasn’t to be – and I’m so glad!! As May was calving season, the nearby farmer at Browsholme said the fireworks could disturb the cows and cause them stress. I was at first gutted (the joys of the countryside eh!), but myself and Rob decided our new wow factor would come from a wedding singer instead. (I was determined to spend the money, after all, I’d given up my ASOS fix! Rob suggested we save it instead…BORING!)
That man was Wayne Farrow, and I can honestly say it was an amazing decision. He really listened to what we wanted (lots of old school 90s dance for me!) and greeted our guests by singing in the sun in the Browsholme Hall courtyard. As everyone sipped their Champers, Wayne sang some laid back classics…but little did they know what was to come!
He then introduced the men into the Tithe Barn where we were to dine with Let’s Get Ready to Rumble, and the ladies to N-Trance Set You Free, a personal fave of mine. The entrance pictures from Paul Joseph Photography really make me smile, especially my glam bridesmaids in their tight Karen Millen dresses and gypsophilia in their hair having a little rave!
Wayne surprised bridesmaid Caroline with Sweet Caroline, as well as my mum and Welsh dad with a Tom Jones classic. In fact, we were all on our feet in between courses and the staff at Browsholme admitted they were bopping away in the background.
Wayne has a superb talent and gives his clients exactly what they want. Anyone who caters for Rob’s Take That habits and my 90s dance obsession is a winning wedding singer in my eyes!
Looking back, fireworks will have probably been wasted, as with 180 guests at the night do people were mingling all over the place so might have missed them. Having Wayne during the day meant he really set the atmosphere, had an attentive audience and provided the laid back fun atmosphere we wanted. We had around 100 day guests, and remembering our closest friends and family stood up with their arms in the air after the perfect meal from Rowley’s Catering is something I will always cherish. Thank you Wayne!! X
