Amy & John’s Big Day

Wennington Hall is the newest addition to the James’ Places collection of venues and it’s already making its mark as a truly special location for weddings.

Set in the Ribble Valley countryside, right on the edge of the Lake District, the hall has recently been transformed from its historic past as a private school into a stunning wedding venue. It’s got that perfect mix of grand architecture, modern facilities and beautiful views, making it a fantastic choice for couples looking for something fresh yet full of character.

Amy & John’s Wedding

Amy and John’s day was packed with personality from start to finish. They weren’t afraid to do things their own way, and that’s what made it so memorable.

From the moment guests arrived there was a real buzz in the air, and the couple carried that energy straight through into their entrance.

John and Amy made their arrival in true countryside style, rolling up to Wennington Hall on a tractor.

It was the perfect nod to their personalities, a brilliant touch that had everyone grinning and set the tone for a relaxed, fun-filled celebration ahead.

Then came what I can only describe as one of the most original grooms speeches I’ve seen.

John used his job handbook as the basis for his speech and it turned into something heartfelt, funny and completely memorable. It had the room laughing and tearing up at the same time.

The Party

For me, the party really started during the wedding breakfast. That’s the moment where I bring the room together, keep the energy flowing, and make sure there’s no lull between courses and speeches.

At Amy and John’s Wennington Hall wedding, it worked a treat,  by the time desserts were being cleared, the place already felt like a proper celebration.

Guests were up singing, dancing at their tables, waving napkins in the air,  exactly the kind of atmosphere I love to create as a wedding host at Wennington Hall.

It set the tone perfectly for the evening reception and meant the dance floor was buzzing from the very first song.

That’s the beauty of having a wedding singer in the Ribble Valley who doubles as your host, it’s not just about the music later on, it’s about creating a party right through the day.

And with Wennington Hall’s stunning setting and the excitement of it being such a fresh new venue, it already feels like it’s built for unforgettable weddings.

Whether you’re planning your own Wennington Hall wedding, or looking at other Lake District wedding venues, this style of hosting makes sure the celebration kicks off early and never slows down.

Photography and Videography

The day was captured perfectly by the brilliant Adam Grills Photography. Adam handled both the photography and video for Amy and John’s wedding, which is no small task, but he made it look effortless. His style is natural and unobtrusive, and he has that rare knack of being everywhere he needs to be without ever getting in the way.

I first met Adam at a Lake District wedding last year, and we hit it off straight away. He’s one of those down-to-earth guys who just gets it,  professional to the core, but with a relaxed personality that couples and guests warm to instantly.

Working with him again at Wennington Hall was a pleasure, and it reminded me why I recommend him without hesitation.

For Amy and John, it meant their memories were in safe hands. Every moment was covered, from the tractor entrance to the late-night dance floor chaos, and I know their photos and video will tell the story of the day exactly as it felt.

Adam’s a great fella and if you’re planning a wedding in the Ribble Valley or the Lake District, you’ll be in very good hands with him.
